Pricing Suggestions
Mason can suggest line-item pricing for a job by looking at invoices (and optionally quotes) from similar jobs your team has done before. It pulls in your default line items for the job type, checks what you’ve charged historically, and comes back with suggested quantities and unit prices.

Opening the Pricing Dialog
- Open a job.
- Click the pricing button (the sparkle icon near the line items section).
- The pricing dialog opens with a setup screen.
Setup Options
Before generating suggestions, you can adjust 3 things:
1. Pricing History
By default, Mason only looks at verified invoices you’ve sent to customers. Toggle Include quotes if you want it to also consider quotes (useful if you don’t have much invoice history yet).
2. Files (Optional)
Drop in images or PDFs that might help Mason price the job. Think: scope-of-work documents, site photos, blueprints, or a customer’s RFP. You can upload up to 5 files, 10 MB each.
3. Pricing Context
If your team has created AI Context entries, they’ll show up here. Contexts linked to this job’s type are included automatically. You can add or remove contexts manually using the chips.
Generating Suggestions
Click Generate pricing. Mason will:
- Find up to 25 recent jobs of the same type
- Pull line items from those jobs’ invoices (and quotes, if toggled on)
- Read any AI context entries you’ve attached
- Look at any files you uploaded
- Return a list of suggested line items with quantities, unit prices, and reasons
This takes a few seconds.
Reviewing Suggestions
Each suggested line item shows:
- Name and description
- Quantity and unit price
- Total (quantity x unit price)
- Reason: why Mason suggested this item and how it arrived at the price
Read through the reasons. They’ll reference comparable jobs, historical averages, or context entries your team wrote.
Applying or Regenerating
- Apply Suggested Pricing: replaces the job’s current line items with Mason’s suggestions
- Regenerate: runs the pricing again (useful after changing settings or adding files)
- Chat with Mason: opens a side panel to ask questions before deciding (see Chatting with Mason)
Tips
- The more invoice history you have for a job type, the better Mason’s suggestions get.
- If Mason’s prices feel off, check whether you have AI Context entries for that job type. A short rate card goes a long way.
- You can regenerate as many times as you want. Changing the settings (toggling quotes, adding files, adjusting context) and regenerating is the fastest way to dial in the price.
