AI Context Catalog
AI contexts are short notes your team writes so Mason knows how you price things. Rate cards, pricing rules, material costs, policies, anything that affects what you charge. When Mason generates pricing suggestions or answers chat questions, it reads these notes and factors them in.
Required role: Site Admin (to create/edit), Site User (to view)
Why Bother?
Without context, Mason only looks at your invoice history. That works, but it misses things like:
- Your flat sawing rate is $3.00/LF at 6” deep, with 2x for removal
- Weekend work gets a 1.5x multiplier
- Haul-away pricing depends on distance to the dump site
- You always include mobilization as a separate line item
Write those things down as context entries, and Mason will use them every time.
Creating a Context Entry
- Go to Settings → scroll to AI Context.
- Click Add Context.
- Fill in:
- Title: a short label (max 120 characters). Example: “Flat sawing rate card”
- Context: the actual content (max 2,000 characters). Be specific with numbers.
- Optionally, attach it to one or more job types or equipment types (see below).
- Click Create.
Writing Good Context
Keep it concrete. Mason works best with numbers, rates, and clear rules.
Good: “Flat sawing is $3.00/LF at 6 inch depth. Add $0.50/LF for each additional 2 inches. Removal to on-site dumpster is 2x the cutting price. Haul-away is 3x.”
Vague: “We charge more for deeper cuts and removal costs extra.”
Auto-Attaching to Job Types and Equipment Types
When you attach a context entry to a job type (like “Concrete Cutting”), Mason will automatically include it whenever someone prices a job of that type. No one has to remember to add it manually.
You can also attach context to equipment types. If your team writes context about how to price jobs involving specific equipment, attach it to the equipment type so it shows up automatically.
Entries with no attachments are still available. They just won’t be auto-included; someone has to add them manually from the pricing dialog.
Editing and Deleting
Click any row in the context table to edit it. Changes apply to future pricing requests only. Past conversations keep a frozen copy of the context they used, so editing never changes history.
To delete, click the trash icon. Same rule: past conversations aren’t affected.
How Context Gets Used
When someone generates pricing suggestions:
- Rivvex checks which contexts are attached to the job’s type(s). Those get included automatically.
- Any manually-added contexts from the pricing dialog get included too.
- Mason reads all of them alongside the invoice history and generates suggestions that factor in both.
You’ll see the active contexts listed as chips in the pricing dialog, under “Pricing Context.”
